Vayu Gyan

Creating Awareness around Air Quality and Air Pollution and activating FixIT Game in Schools & Colleges of Delhi and organizing a Vayu Utsav.

Project Context

With the help of this project, we activate the game in 30 government schools and would make the students aware on Air Quality & Pollution and what they can do to have a greener Delhi with safer air to breathe. The activation and awareness workshops were followed with a series of Inter School events around theatre, a report on Best Practices and as the conclusion to the project would organize the teams from 30 institutions come together and celebrate their working towards a cleaner and greener Delhi. Top 10 from the schools would present a theatre on Air Pollution along with sharing their best practices at the concluding event call “Vayu Utsav” acknowledging the students’ efforts in different categories giving out 6 awards to schools- 3 for theatre and 3 for Best Practices.

Project Objectives

  1. Spreading the awareness and sensitivity among the younger generation of Delhi to make them understand how our own actions combined is leading to such poor Air Quality in Delhi.
  2. Further the students would also become aware of what steps and measures can be taken towards a greener and cleaner Delhi.
  3. Motivating at least 10 students in each school who would become the Vayu Rakshaks and would take on the onus of spreading the message across their school and city.
  4. Promoting cross learning among the schools of the city on the subject by engaging them in the concluding “Vayu Utsav” where the performance of 10 best theatres and 10 best reports on Best Practices would be organized- 6 from schools
  5. Implement an impactful project by monitoring the same through the randomized controlled trial (RCT) method of impact evaluation.

Expected Impact

The project would be able to reach out to atleast 200 direct beneficiaries during the Awareness and Activation Workshop making it to a total of 10000 students in the 50 institutions we aim to reach out to.

In addition to this, the institutions would be requested to present their prepared theatre to the whole school making the message reach out to atleast 1000 children at an average in each institute making it to a total of 50000.

Further the Impact would be evaluated from the Best Practices Report being presented by each institute, hence the impactful implementation becomes a responsibility for us.

The Vayu Rakshaks would be given the task to reach out to a wider network outside of their institute as part of their exercise for the Vayu Utsav. Hence, we expect another bump in the number of direct outreach of the program, making it to a total of at least 100000 direct outreach.

Overall the program would be able to reach out to 100000 families making the outreach to a minimum of 4-5 lakhs.

In addition to this, the Miyawaki Forestation in 5 schools/ colleges would also create dense forest in limited space and this would make Delhi a greener city to live in.

Since, we are engaging the RCT method for Impact Evaluation, we would be able to have an effective program.
